Now retired, Rev. Jonathan N. Gerstner is an Ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament of the Christian Reformed Church of North America. He has served as a visiting professor of theology at San Pablo Theological Seminary in Mexico since 2019 and as an adjunct faculty member at Gateway Seminary in Arizona since 2010. In 2019 and 2020, Pastor Jonathan N. Gerstner worked as a hospice chaplain with VITAS Healthcare in Palm Coast, Florida, a role that involved providing spiritual support to patients living with terminal diagnoses and their families. In the past, the minister held positions such as president of the Yucatan International Academy and executive secretary with the Synod of Canada of the Reformed Church in America.
Rev. Jonathan Gerstner studied theology at the University of Utrecht, with an emphasis on Dutch reformed covenant theology. He then studied the history of Christianity at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, focusing on the history of Christianity during the Dutch colonial period. He received his doctor of philosophy in theology and the history of Christianity from the University of Chicago Divinity School. He is also a certified professional in talent development and a certified instructional technologist.
